About the Role
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is seeking a dedicated Legal Administration Officer (MR5) for its Litigation Services division, based in Johannesburg. This pivotal role requires a legal professional with a strong background in litigation and public service who will contribute to the integrity of the legal processes within the department. What You’ll Do
- Draft, review, and amend legal policies for the department.
- Manage litigation cases on behalf of the department through the State Attorney.
- Compile and investigate relevant documents for court proceedings.
- Liaise with the State Attorney’s office, legal advisors, and counsel.
- Conduct research to establish liability in ongoing cases.
- Provide instruction to the State Attorney during court proceedings.
- Ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Update and manage the litigation management system.
- Compile court records and appear in court to present legal arguments.
- Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures.
What You’ll Need
- An LLB Degree (NQF Level 8).
- A minimum of 14 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience.
- Admitted Attorney or Advocate in the High Court of South Africa.
- Strong knowledge of research methodologies and good communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and solve complex legal problems.
- Proficiency in office administration, planning, and organisation.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Administrative and Constitutional Law.
- Familiarity with court procedures and legal drafting.
