What You’ll Do

• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Collect and return linen from designated depots within the hospital.
• Accurately record the quantity of linen collected and returned to relevant units.
• Prepare and disinfect linen for washing according to established guidelines.
• Operate various laundry machines, including washers, dryers, and presses.
• Inspect, mend, and mark laundry to ensure items are in good condition.
• Iron, fold, and pack laundered items, sealing linen bags for delivery.
• Sort, count, and record dirty linen accurately.
• Report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor and maintain laundry machines effectively.

What You’ll Need

• An NQF level 1 or 2 qualification (equivalent to an ABET level 2 certificate).
• No prior experience is necessary, but an understanding of laundry operations is beneficial.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work flexible shifts, including night shifts.
• A reliable work ethic, honesty, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Physical strength and stamina to meet the demands of the role.
• Willingness to rotate through various areas of the laundry as needed.
