The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Laundry Worker to join its team at Olivier & Adelaide Hospital in the Alfred Nzo District. What You’ll Do
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Collect and return linen from designated depots within the hospital.
- Accurately record the quantity of linen collected and returned to relevant units.
- Prepare and disinfect linen for washing according to established guidelines.
- Operate various laundry machines, including washers, dryers, and presses.
- Inspect, mend, and mark laundry to ensure items are in good condition.
- Iron, fold, and pack laundered items, sealing linen bags for delivery.
- Sort, count, and record dirty linen accurately.
- Report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor and maintain laundry machines effectively.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 1 or 2 qualification (equivalent to an ABET level 2 certificate).
- No prior experience is necessary, but an understanding of laundry operations is beneficial.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work flexible shifts, including night shifts.
- A reliable work ethic, honesty, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical strength and stamina to meet the demands of the role.
- Willingness to rotate through various areas of the laundry as needed.
