What You’ll Do

• Provide SASL interpreting services during meetings, departmental events, and official engagements.
• Translate documents, speeches, and audio content into SASL and video formats.
• Ensure departments utilize standard SASL interpreting services and address any related queries.
• Advocate for SASL rights and promote language development within the Department.
• Conduct SASL workshops and create awareness of Deaf culture among departmental staff.
• Facilitate the development of systems that enhance access to information for Deaf individuals.

What You’ll Need

• A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree at NQF level 06/07 in Languages or Language Practice, specializing in sign language.
• At least 2 years of experience in the translation field is advantageous.
• A valid driver’s license (not applicable for persons with disabilities).
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks and public service regulations.
• Proficiency in sign language interpreting and excellent communication and facilitation skills.
