About the Role

The Department of Employment and Labour is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Inspector: Inspection and Enforcement Services, with two positions available at the Mafikeng Labour Centre and Klerksdorp Labour Centre. This vital role, based in the heart of the North West, is focused on promoting compliance with labour legislation across the region. As an inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring that workplaces adhere to legislation, thereby protecting the rights of employees and fostering a fair work environment.

In this position, you will actively engage with the community, conducting occupational inspections and investigations into reported cases of labour legislation violations. What You’ll Do

• Conduct thorough occupational inspections to ensure compliance with relevant labour legislation.
• Execute investigations on reported contraventions of labour laws and implement enforcement actions when necessary.
• Perform proactive blitz inspections on a regular basis to monitor compliance levels within various sectors.
• Develop and implement advocacy campaigns to raise awareness of labour legislation among employers and employees.
• Assist in drafting inspection plans, reports, and compiling necessary documentation to support enforcement efforts.

What You’ll Need

• A relevant qualification (NQF6) in Labour Relations, BCOM Law, or LLB, with at least three years of experience in a related field.
• A valid driver’s licence to facilitate travel for inspections.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and other relevant legislation.
• Strong skills in facilitation, planning and organizing, computer literacy, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to conduct interviews effectively.
