What You’ll Do
- Manage and support departmental GIS services, ensuring optimal functionality and performance
- Acquire and prepare spatial and non-spatial data from various sources for use in GIS environments
- Create spatial data by integrating static and non-spatial information
- Compile and produce detailed reports and maps based on spatial analyses
- Engage in business report writing and develop spatial data presentations
- Promote the application of GIS and spatial analysis in planning and monitoring departmental projects
- Represent the department at departmental, provincial, and national forums
What You’ll Need
- A university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, along with an appropriate Honours or Master’s degree
- A tertiary qualification in Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
- A minimum of three to five years of experience in managing Geographic Information Systems
- Familiarity with GIS database administration, web application development, and spatial analysis
- Proficiency in using ArcGIS or ArcIMS
- Project management experience and knowledge of government legislation regarding spatial information
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and excellent client liaison abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to extended working hours
- A valid driver’s license
