What You’ll Do

• Manage and support departmental GIS services, ensuring optimal functionality and performance
• Acquire and prepare spatial and non-spatial data from various sources for use in GIS environments
• Create spatial data by integrating static and non-spatial information
• Compile and produce detailed reports and maps based on spatial analyses
• Engage in business report writing and develop spatial data presentations
• Promote the application of GIS and spatial analysis in planning and monitoring departmental projects
• Represent the department at departmental, provincial, and national forums

What You’ll Need

• A university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, along with an appropriate Honours or Master’s degree
• A tertiary qualification in Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
• A minimum of three to five years of experience in managing Geographic Information Systems
• Familiarity with GIS database administration, web application development, and spatial analysis
• Proficiency in using ArcGIS or ArcIMS
• Project management experience and knowledge of government legislation regarding spatial information
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and excellent client liaison abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to extended working hours
• A valid driver’s license
