What You’ll Do

  • Clean kitchen utensils and equipment to maintain hygiene standards
  • Provide catering support services for various events and functions
  • Keep accurate stock of kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Apply hygiene and safety measures in food preparation
  • Maintain quality control measures of all food served
  • Prepare food, snacks, and beverages including coffee, tea, and cold drinks
  • Set up and convey crockery, cutlery, and equipment to dining areas
  • Serve food and beverages with attention to customer service
  • Wash dishes and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area
  • Monitor food supplies and report any waste or losses
  • Ensure proper packing of supplies in food storage areas
  • Report any equipment defects or shortages to management
  • Set tables for dining, including decoration where appropriate
  • Ensure only authorized personnel have access to kitchen areas
  • Follow safety measures and standard operating procedures at all times

What You’ll Need

  • NQF Level 01 or 02 (ABET Level 02 certificate or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a hospitality environment is advantageous
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation related to food safety
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
