About the Role

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is seeking a qualified and experienced Financial Misconduct Committee Chairperson to oversee the management of financial misconduct processes within the organization. This pivotal role is based in Pretoria and is integral to maintaining the integrity of public service finances. By ensuring compliance with various financial regulations and legislations, the Chairperson will play a critical role in safeguarding taxpayer resources and enhancing accountability within the IPID. The Financial Misconduct Committee Chairperson will be responsible for guiding the committee in its oversight functions, ensuring that all activities align with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, and other relevant frameworks. This role is essential in addressing issues of unauthorized, irregular, and wasteful expenditures, thereby protecting the integrity of financial management in government. The Chairperson will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and other stakeholders to ensure effective consequence management and uphold the highest standards of public service.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the Financial Misconduct Committee in conducting oversight and investigations into financial irregularities.
• Develop and implement strategies to monitor compliance with financial regulations.
• Investigate allegations of financial misconduct and recommend appropriate actions.
• Ensure the timely progress of disciplinary hearings for transgressors.
• Convene regular meetings of the committee to review cases and report findings to the Executive Director.
• Foster a culture of accountability and ethical governance within the organization.

What You’ll Need

• A matric certificate plus a postgraduate degree or equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
• At least 10 years of experience in fields such as Accounting, Auditing, Risk Management, Financial Management, Compliance, or Law/Investigation.
• Strong knowledge of public sector governance, risk management, and auditing practices.
• Proven experience in committees like Audit, Risk Management, or Governance Bodies is essential.
• Relevant certifications such as CA/SA, CIA, CISA, or CFE are highly desirable.
