What You’ll Do

  • Chair the Departmental Risk Management Committee, guiding discussions and decisions.
  • Monitor the implementation of risk management strategies within the department.
  • Review and ensure compliance with departmental risk management action plans.
  • Integrate risk management processes into planning, monitoring, and reporting activities.
  • Assess the department’s risk appetite and tolerance levels.
  • Provide quarterly reports to the Accounting Officer and management committees.
  • Implement risk maturity models to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management functions.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 Certificate.
  • A relevant Degree in Legal, Accounting, Risk Management, Auditing, or Financial Management (minimum of 3 years).
  • Over 5 years of experience in a risk management environment.
  • Preferable experience as a Risk/Audit chairperson.
  • Strong understanding of public sector business controls and corporate governance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of recent developments in Risk Management, including the Public Finance Management Act and related frameworks.
  • Membership with professional bodies such as IRMSA, ACFE, or SAICA is an advantage.
