About the Role
The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning is seeking passionate individuals for the role of Environmental Officer Production Grade A: Biodiversity across several locations in the Amathole, Sarah Baartman, Joe Gqabi, and Chris Hani Districts in the Eastern Cape. What You’ll Do
- Assist in developing and implementing biodiversity management plans at the district level.
- Evaluate applications for biodiversity authorisation and conduct compliance assessments.
- Provide technical and procedural biodiversity advisory services to stakeholders.
- Manage administrative tasks and related functions to support biodiversity initiatives.
- Collaborate with community groups and local authorities to promote biodiversity conservation.
What You’ll Need
- National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Environmental Management, Natural Sciences, Nature Conservation, Environmental Law, or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, including the National Environmental Management Act and related policies.
- Good writing and communication skills.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with biodiversity management practices.
- Experience in Community-Based Natural Resource Management is an advantage.
