What You’ll Do

  • Provide legal opinions and advice to the MEC on appeals related to administrative decisions.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on legal cases to inform decision-making.
  • Liaise with legal experts and advise on settlement options to mitigate legal costs.
  • Scrutinize legal contracts and ensure compliance with prescribed procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments on contracts to prevent financial loss and litigation.
  • Collaborate with the State Attorney on litigation matters and manage related documentation.
  • Support the Legal Services directorate to ensure sound labor stability.
  • Manage the budget for the directorate in line with financial management regulations.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12/Senior Certificate.
  • An LLB Degree (NQF level 7) recognized by SAQA.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience at middle or senior management level in Legal Services.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • In-depth knowledge of legislation impacting Public Service, such as the Labour Relations Act and Employment Equity Act.
  • Strong negotiation, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on client orientation.
