The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Director: Legal Services to join their team in Glen. What You’ll Do

• Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to the department and its staff.
• Manage and mitigate legal risks faced by the department and the MEC’s office.
• Oversee the litigation management process and represent the department in legal proceedings.
• Draft legal opinions, contracts, and service level agreements.
• Coordinate with other departments on legal-related matters.
• Ensure compliance with national and international legal standards.
• Participate in the development of strategic and operational plans for the directorate.
• Monitor and report on the implementation of legal strategies and performance.

What You’ll Need

• An NQF level 7 qualification in Law recognized by SAQA.
• Admission as an Attorney or Advocate.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a middle or senior managerial role in a legal environment.
• A valid driver’s license (code B).
• Compulsory Nyukela SMS pre-entry certificate prior to appointment.
• In-depth knowledge of legal prescripts applicable to the public service, including South African Constitutional Law and Administrative Law.
• Strong strategic capability and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
