About the Role
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Director: Legal Services to join their team in Glen. What You’ll Do
- Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to the department and its staff.
- Manage and mitigate legal risks faced by the department and the MEC’s office.
- Oversee the litigation management process and represent the department in legal proceedings.
- Draft legal opinions, contracts, and service level agreements.
- Coordinate with other departments on legal-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with national and international legal standards.
- Participate in the development of strategic and operational plans for the directorate.
- Monitor and report on the implementation of legal strategies and performance.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 7 qualification in Law recognized by SAQA.
- Admission as an Attorney or Advocate.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a middle or senior managerial role in a legal environment.
- A valid driver’s license (code B).
- Compulsory Nyukela SMS pre-entry certificate prior to appointment.
- In-depth knowledge of legal prescripts applicable to the public service, including South African Constitutional Law and Administrative Law.
- Strong strategic capability and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
