About the Role
The Western Cape Mobility Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual for the role of Director: Freight and Logistics. Based in the vibrant city of Cape Town, this position plays a crucial role in shaping the future of freight transport in the Western Cape. This role is pivotal in promoting intermodal facilities and enhancing freight services across various transport modes. Working closely with both public and private sector stakeholders, your leadership will ensure that freight systems align with the province’s spatial, economic, and social development goals, ultimately contributing to a more integrated transport network in South Africa.

What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement provincial legislation and policies for freight transport.

- Manage freight data and develop information systems to enhance service delivery.
- Facilitate high-level engagements with public and private freight stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment of freight projects with the province’s development goals.
- Oversee financial and people management within the department.
What You’ll Need
- An undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) in Freight, Transport, Logistics, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a middle/senior managerial role.
- Strong competencies in strategic capability, project management, and financial management.
- Proven ability in change management and people management.
