What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
- Define roles and accountability for data ownership and stewardship within the organisation.
- Establish and lead a Data Governance Committee to drive compliance with data policies.
- Track and report on key data governance metrics to assess the effectiveness of initiatives.
- Oversee master data management processes to maintain the accuracy and consistency of critical data.
- Create and manage a data catalogue to classify National Treasury data assets.
- Set data quality standards and processes to ensure reliability and completeness of data.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify and resolve data quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations such as POPIA and manage associated risks.
- Train stakeholders on data governance best practices and compliance requirements.
- Represent the National Treasury in inter-governmental forums related to data governance.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 qualification and a Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Computer Science, Economics, Data Science, Information Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a middle or senior managerial role focused on data governance and management.
- Proven experience in formulating and managing data governance frameworks and compliance policies.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data privacy regulations, and data quality standards.
- Knowledge of data management tools and metadata management platforms.
- Successful completion of the Nyukela Public Service Senior Management Leadership Programme is required before final appointment.
