What You’ll Do

  • Manage and oversee rail planning processes within the department.
  • Coordinate information and data related to rail planning and infrastructure.
  • Integrate transport planning with land use and urban planning strategies.
  • Advocate for the development of rail infrastructure in alignment with government objectives.
  • Supervise and manage the resources of the Sub-directorate effectively.

What You’ll Need

  • A minimum qualification of NQF 7 in Mechanical or Civil Engineering as recognized by SAQA.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a management or Assistant Director role in the rail or transport sector.
  • Strong understanding of the transport sector and rail industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of rail infrastructure, policies, and prescripts.
  • Familiarity with freight network planning and maintenance plans.
  • Project management skills and knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in computer literacy.
