What You’ll Do
- Provide guidance to client departments on preparing annual budget submissions and related documents.
- Analyze the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) submissions and propose corrective measures for budget documentation.
- Monitor compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations, advising stakeholders on correct implementation.
- Conduct in-year analyses of expenditure plans and trends to enhance financial effectiveness within departments.
- Evaluate departmental requests for roll-over funds, additional funding, and changes in program structures.
- Follow up on findings from Auditor-General’s reports to ensure accountability and transparency.
- Initiate benchmarking exercises with other government departments to stay updated on financial trends and interventions.
- Engage with stakeholders regarding key developments in policy and financial planning.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum National Diploma (NQF level 6) or a Bachelor’s Degree (NQF level 7) in Economics, Accounting, Public Finance, or Social Sciences.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience, with 2 years at an Assistant Director level or equivalent in budgetary and financial management.
- Strong knowledge of public sector budgeting and expenditure frameworks.
- Familiarity with regulatory directives like the PFMA and Treasury Regulations.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
