What You’ll Do

• Manage and oversee a designated portfolio, ensuring effective prosecution and legal compliance.
• Train and mentor Advocates, Prosecutors, and other stakeholders in handling complex legal matters.
• Conduct thorough investigations and prosecute cases in the High Court, Supreme Court of Appeal, and Constitutional Court.
• Provide legal oversight in investigation projects and casework, ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Prepare and present evidence in court, including drafting chargesheets and indictments.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and manage records related to criminal prosecutions.
• Lead strategic planning initiatives for the division, guiding staff towards achieving objectives.
• Address representations and complaints, maintaining high professional standards.
• Promote community involvement and integration within the criminal justice system.

What You’ll Need

• An LLB or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion.
• A minimum of ten (10) years’ post-qualification experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.
• Right of appearance as per section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
• Strong competency in independent, professional, and accountable legal practice.
• Admission as an Attorney/Advocate is advantageous.
• Extensive experience in prosecuting or litigating common law offences, particularly involving tax evasion and fraud.
• Solid understanding of SARS functions and a background in financial accounting.
• Proficient advocacy and legal drafting skills, along with knowledge of civil and/or criminal procedure.
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, presentation, and communication abilities.
• Computer literacy and a valid driver’s license.
