What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate misconduct and disciplinary processes within the department.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies for managing complex employee relations issues.
  • Advise on the resolution of high-risk employee relations matters, including workplace investigations.
  • Represent the department at disciplinary hearings and various labour relations forums.
  • Ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act and other relevant legislative frameworks.
  • Monitor and prepare documentation for appeal processes and implement outcomes.
  • Provide training and advocacy on labour relations matters to departmental staff.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of employee relations strategies and draft reports on disputes.
  • Manage resources effectively within the unit, ensuring compliance and risk management.

What You’ll Need

  • An undergraduate qualification in Employment Relations, Labour Law, or a related field at NQF level 6.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Junior Management or Assistant Director role within a Labour Relations environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Labour Relations Act and Public Service Regulations.
  • Proven experience in dispute resolution and mediating conflicts.
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
