What You’ll Do

  • Manage the planning, development, and implementation of road infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate rural road development strategies and programmes.
  • Oversee the promotion and implementation of low-cost non-motorised transport.
  • Manage road grants funding and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
  • Develop and update technical norms, standards, and guidelines for road works.
  • Supervise quality control measures on road projects.
  • Implement asset management systems in line with GIAMA requirements.
  • Regulate road traffic and develop relevant acts and regulations.
  • Ensure the successful application of enforcement regulations.
  • Lead road safety projects and related community initiatives.
  • Provide technical support to Road Transport Entities.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, financial reports, and forecasts.
  • Guide and support staff development and compliance with administrative regulations.

What You’ll Need

  • A qualification at NQF 8 level in Civil Engineering or Construction Studies.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in road infrastructure management at a senior management level.
  • Successful completion of the National School of Government’s Senior Management Service Pre-Entry Programme.
  • Strong knowledge of road infrastructure standards and civil engineering guidelines.
  • Experience in community development and participation programs.
  • Proficiency in PFMA, MMFA, Treasury Regulations, and GIAMA.
  • Research and policy experience, along with project management skills.
  • Ability to prepare management and technical reports and proposals.
  • Strong financial management and budgeting capabilities.
