The Department of Transport is seeking a dedicated Chief Director: Roads Construction to join its Head Office in Johannesburg. What You’ll Do
- Manage and oversee the programming, budgeting, and reporting of capital projects related to road construction.
- Coordinate the implementation of departmental roads infrastructure and capital projects.
- Monitor project management efficiencies to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide support for project management and ensure occupational health and safety standards are met.
- Maintain and manage construction quality assurance and standards across various projects.
- Identify trends in construction and recommend improvements to existing management guidelines and policies.
- Develop operational plans for the Chief Directorate and monitor progress and performance.
- Oversee compliance with applicable legislation and departmental policies.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 7 qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering or Built Environment, recognized by SAQA.
- Registration with a professional body such as ECSA or SACPCMP.
- A minimum of 5 years senior management experience in a transport infrastructure or built environment context.
- Extensive experience in the planning, management, and execution of road construction projects is highly advantageous.
- A valid driver’s license and completion of the Nyukela Senior Management Pre-entry certificate are required prior to appointment.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, construction contract law, and departmental technical standards.
- Proven strategic leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
