The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is seeking a dedicated Deputy Director: Facilities Management to be based at the Nelspruit Regional Office. What You’ll Do
- Manage the effective facilities management of Electrical, Mechanical, and Building systems.
- Implement procurement policies, coordinating the preparation, analysis, negotiation, and review of contracts for equipment and services.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and provide guidance on policy implementation.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of policies, providing continuous feedback on compliance.
- Manage unplanned maintenance, ensuring the availability of safe and habitable structures and services.
- Prepare and control budgets for unplanned maintenance while coordinating preventative maintenance schedules.
- Ensure quality control of workmanship and materials through inspections and corrective actions.
- Oversee the development and training of staff while ensuring effective supervision of resources.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of three years’ tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6/National Diploma) in Property Management or Facilities Management.
- Relevant experience in Properties Management or Facilities Management at Junior Management level or Assistant Director equivalent.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of building maintenance, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and relevant legislation.
- Strong financial and budgeting skills.
- Familiarity with the Government Procurement System.
- Project management and leadership skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Proficiency in computer literacy and strong verbal and written communication skills.
