What You’ll Do

  • Assess and validate demographic data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Develop National, Provincial, and District mid-year population estimates.
  • Create local municipal and household estimates for targeted analysis.
  • Produce short, medium, and long-term population forecasts.
  • Identify collaboration opportunities to enhance the use of mid-year population estimates.
  • Communicate demographic findings effectively to stakeholders through reports and presentations.

What You’ll Need

  • A Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Demography, Population Studies, Statistics, Economics, Geography, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience or relevant experience in statistics or population studies.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation within population studies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to write comprehensive reports and deliver presentations.
  • Familiarity with demographic methods, including population projections, fertility and mortality analysis, and migration studies.
  • Experience with Census data, household surveys, and administrative records.
  • Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, STATA, SPSS) and demographic projection models and tools (e.g., SPECTRUM).
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills, with the ability to thrive under pressure.
