What You’ll Do
- Operate and maintain communication services and equipment at the Antarctic Base.
- Conduct fault-finding and repairs on satellite, radio, IT, GPS, alarm, and telephone systems.
- Manage cargo handling equipment to facilitate logistics and operations.
- Prepare monthly and annual reports, alongside stock-takes for ordering spares and equipment.
- Collaborate with the technical team under the guidance of the base engineer to perform various base-related technical functions.
- Undertake additional non-technical duties as required by expedition members.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma or Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, IT, or a related field.
- At least three years of post-qualification experience in electronic maintenance and diagnostics.
- Proven skills in fault-finding, particularly with V-Sat Satellite Systems and IT networks.
- Familiarity with HF and VHF 2-way radio equipment, telephone systems, and general electronic repairs.
- Competence in using tools like Oscilloscopes and Spectrum Analysers, along with adherence to safety policies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
