What You’ll Do
- Maintain and repair electrical services and equipment at the Gough Island base.
- Perform diagnostics and fault-finding on power generators and air-conditioning systems.
- Manage and oversee the maintenance of water reticulation and waste water systems.
- Prepare monthly and annual technical reports on maintenance activities.
- Conduct stock-takes to order necessary spare parts and equipment.
- Collaborate with the technical team to complete base-related tasks and responsibilities.
- Lead and manage the technical group at the base when required.
What You’ll Need
- A completed trade test as an Electrician or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of three years’ post-trade experience in electrical maintenance.
- A wireman’s license, preferably with 3-phase testing capability.
- Competence in low voltage and 3-phase electrical plant maintenance.
- Familiarity with good workshop practices and basic workshop tools.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in the workplace.
- Experience in domestic wiring, control wiring, and fire detection systems is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Computer literacy to prepare reports and manage documentation.
