What You’ll Do

• Maintain and repair electrical services and equipment at the Gough Island base.
• Perform diagnostics and fault-finding on power generators and air-conditioning systems.
• Manage and oversee the maintenance of water reticulation and waste water systems.
• Prepare monthly and annual technical reports on maintenance activities.
• Conduct stock-takes to order necessary spare parts and equipment.
• Collaborate with the technical team to complete base-related tasks and responsibilities.
• Lead and manage the technical group at the base when required.

What You’ll Need

• A completed trade test as an Electrician or an equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of three years’ post-trade experience in electrical maintenance.
• A wireman’s license, preferably with 3-phase testing capability.
• Competence in low voltage and 3-phase electrical plant maintenance.
• Familiarity with good workshop practices and basic workshop tools.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations in the workplace.
• Experience in domestic wiring, control wiring, and fire detection systems is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Computer literacy to prepare reports and manage documentation.
