What You’ll Do

• Coordinate and manage the preservation of heritage resources in the province.
• Provide strategic advice to the MEC on the implementation of the National Heritage Resources Act (NHRA) and relevant legislation.
• Oversee the identification, recording, and assessment processes for Gauteng’s heritage resources.
• Develop and implement policies, objectives, and strategic plans for heritage management.
• Monitor the implementation of heritage conservation initiatives to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
• Promote and manage creative arts initiatives within various community contexts.
• Manage museum and monument services alongside language services within the province.
• Lead the management of memorialization, repatriation, and reburial services.
• Support the development of various creative industries including performing arts, visual arts, and crafts.
• Ensure sound financial management and reporting within the chief directorate.

What You’ll Need

• A Grade 12 certificate and an appropriate undergraduate qualification at NQF level 7 in Culture and Heritage Studies, Fine Arts, or a related field recognized by SAQA.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Senior Management role within a relevant environment.
• A valid driver’s license and a clear criminal record.
• A compulsory Pre-Entry Senior Management Certificate issued by the National School of Governance (NSG).
• Strong decision-making and project management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficiency in financial management and strategic planning.
• Capability in conflict management and relationship building.
