The Department of Higher Education and Training is seeking an Assistant Director: Supply Chain and Asset Management to join its team at the Port Elizabeth TVET College, located in the vibrant city of Port Elizabeth. What You’ll Do
- Develop, implement, and monitor Supply Chain Management (SCM) policies in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Ensure effective provisioning, procurement, and stock control processes.
- Oversee the procurement of goods and services, ensuring timely authorisation and alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Coordinate tender processes and support bid specification, evaluation, and adjudication committees.
- Maintain an accurate asset register, managing asset movement and facilitating disposals as needed.
- Develop and maintain a secure supplier database while monitoring supplier compliance.
- Manage and supervise staff within the unit, establishing performance agreements and supporting professional development.
What You’ll Need
- A relevant Senior Certificate / Grade 12 / NCV Certificate (Level 4) is essential.
- A recognised National Diploma (NQF Level 6)/ Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in Supply Chain Management, particularly in tender processes and logistics management.
- In-depth knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and other relevant legislation.
- Strong administrative, planning, organisational, and financial management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications and a commitment to service excellence.
