About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director for the SHERQ, HIV, STI, TB & COIDA program based in Modimolle, Waterberg District. This vital role is integral to enhancing the health and wellness of employees within the community. As an Assistant Director, you will coordinate and facilitate comprehensive Employee Health and Wellness programmes that aim to create a healthier workforce, ultimately benefiting the wider community in South Africa.
In this position, you will be responsible for conducting health risk assessments, managing occupational health and safety programmes, and supporting line management in addressing health-related absenteeism. Your work will play a crucial role in promoting health awareness and implementing initiatives that enhance employee wellbeing and performance. By representing the department in the Waterberg District AIDS Council forum, you will also contribute significantly to the fight against HIV, STI, and TB, ensuring that public service remains committed to the health needs of our citizens.

What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and facilitate Employee Health and Wellness programmes.
- Conduct workplace health risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage occupational health and safety initiatives.
- Support line management in addressing health-related absenteeism.
- Represent the department in health forums, including the Waterberg District AIDS Council.
- Administer COIDA (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases) in the district.
- Coordinate sports and bereavement programmes within the district.
- Facilitate social club activities and manage relevant resources in accordance with legislation.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF 6 qualification in Social and Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Health Nursing, Environmental Health, or equivalent.
- Professional registration with the relevant statutory body (SACSSP, HPCSA, or SANC).
- A minimum of three years’ experience in the Employee Health & Wellness field at a supervisory level.
- A valid driver’s license (exceptions apply for persons with disabilities).
- Strong knowledge of Employee Health and Wellness policies and related acts.
- Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in computer literacy and report writing.
