About the Role
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join its team as an Assistant Director: Risk Management Services, based in Polokwane. This vital role focuses on coordinating and providing technical and administrative support on corporate governance and enterprise risk management. By developing and monitoring the implementation of the Business Continuity Plan, the Assistant Director will play a key role in ensuring that the department can effectively manage risks and maintain stability in delivering public services. Your work will contribute to the overall safety and effectiveness of government operations, directly impacting the community and enhancing public trust in government.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to benchmark with best practices in risk management and implement reviewed frameworks that strengthen the department’s operations. What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and provide technical support on corporate governance matters.
- Develop and monitor the implementation of the Business Continuity Plan.
- Review and benchmark the Enterprise Risk Management Framework against best practices.
- Implement the reviewed Risk Management Framework effectively.
- Develop and implement the risk appetite and tolerance framework.
- Facilitate the development of the departmental Combined Assurance Plan.
- Provide secretariat services to the Risk Management Committee and Business Continuity Management Committee.
- Coordinate risk identification and assessment workshops across the department.
- Capture and update risk management reports into the Barnow System.
What You’ll Need
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF level 06/07) in Risk Management, Auditing, Public Management, Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience in a risk management environment.
- A valid driver’s license (not required for persons with disabilities).
- Solid understanding of the legislative requirements related to Enterprise Risk Management.
- Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Proficient in standard computer packages and risk management tools.
- Strong organizational, planning, and coordination abilities.
- Skills in negotiation, consultation, facilitation, and presentation.
