What You’ll Do
- Manage the daily media monitoring service to track media coverage relevant to the department’s focus areas.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of departmental media coverage and compile weekly reports summarizing key stories.
- Distribute media clippings to clients nationwide, ensuring timely communication and engagement.
- Provide a rapid response service in collaboration with the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS).
- Engage with audiences on social media platforms, building relationships and promoting brand loyalty.
- Source and develop engaging content for various media formats, including digital, print, and audio-visual.
- Coordinate departmental podcasts and support communication during departmental events.
- Supervise and guide subordinates, ensuring tasks are performed effectively and efficiently.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 Certificate and a National Diploma in Communications, Journalism, Media, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related qualification (NQF Level 6).
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a communications service environment.
- Proven expertise in social media management, content creation, and campaign execution.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of policies and legislation governing communication.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Proficiency in computer literacy and the ability to work outside office hours as needed.
