What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team of support and technical specialists in program development, testing, and support.
  • Design and create ad hoc survey and reporting tools as required.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with Access and SQL databases.
  • Evaluate and test new or modified software according to user requirements.
  • Write and verify quality standards and testing procedures.
  • Plan and develop automated tests and integrate them into testing suites.
  • Monitor the performance of applications post-implementation to prevent recurring issues.
  • Document program evaluations, testing, and corrections.
  • Facilitate problem-solving between end users and software developers.
  • Generate reports on the status and progress of support and development initiatives.
  • Provide training and support for the SA-SAMS and other data systems.
  • Collaborate with Education Sector Policy Owners on software development lifecycle management.

What You’ll Need

  • A relevant three-year post-matric qualification (NQF level 6) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development, or related fields.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience at a supervisory level in software development and testing, specifically in a Microsoft Development Environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven experience in reviewing requirements, developing, and automating test cases based on user specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of SA-SAMS and hands-on experience in user and database support.
  • Familiarity with project management and experience in the education sector.
  • Strong skills in both white and black box testing at various levels.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
