About the Role
The Department of Social Development is seeking an Administrative Officer: Disability Assistant (Visually) for the Mopani District, specifically in Giyani, as well as in the Vhembe District in Thohoyandou. This role is crucial in providing direct support to visually impaired employees, ensuring they have full access to departmental information and services. What You’ll Do
- Provide direct assistance to visually impaired employees in accessing departmental information and services.
- Conduct accessibility assessments to identify barriers affecting visually impaired individuals.
- Facilitate effective communication between visually impaired employees and their co-workers or stakeholders.
- Offer administrative services and support to enhance workplace efficiency.
- Assist in organizing disability awareness campaigns and training initiatives.
What You’ll Need
- A National Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification, plus an appropriate NQF Level 6 qualification in fields such as Social Work, Disability Studies, or Public Administration.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar or related field.
- Valid driver’s license for mobility within the job context.
- Knowledge of working with visually impaired individuals and disability services.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Good time management and interpersonal skills, alongside computer literacy and familiarity with relevant financial policies.
