The Department of Finance is looking for a dedicated Accounting Clerk to join their head office in Polokwane. What You’ll Do
- Receive and record all invoices and claims in the claims/invoices register
- Reconcile and verify all claims and supplier invoices before payments
- Capture payments in LOGIS, BAS, and PERSAL systems
- Ensure timely processing of all payments
- Clear salary-related suspense accounts and PERSAL exceptions daily
- Reconcile payroll and key accounts on a monthly basis
- Prepare accruals and payables for the department
- Administer payment stubs and ensure audit readiness of documents
- Perform filing of all documents in the section
What You’ll Need
- Grade 12 qualification with Accounting as a subject or equivalent recognized by SAQA
- An NQF 6 qualification in Financial Management, Accounting, Cost Management Accounting, or Economics is an added advantage
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms
- Valid driver’s license (with exceptions for persons with disabilities)
- Basic understanding of Public Sector Financial Administration, PFMA, and Treasury Regulations
- Basic knowledge of LOGIS, BAS, and PERSAL systems
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal relations
- Ability to work independently, accept responsibility, and perform under pressure
