Key Responsibilities
– Assist with the development and maintenance of radioactivity measurement standards and new measurement capabilities.
– Support client-related measurement work, analysis, and certificate generation.
– Prepare and review procedures, maintain laboratory records, and ensure compliance with NMISA policies and Total Quality Management System.
– Aid in the procurement of laboratory consumables and equipment, and uphold health, safety, and environmental requirements.
– Collaborate with senior staff on research, testing, method development, and technical activities.
Requirements/Qualifications
– BSc Honours degree in Radiochemistry or Nuclear Physics.
– Knowledge of radiation detection instruments and gamma-ray spectrometry, liquid scintillation analysis, or alpha-spectrometry is advantageous.
– Basic understanding of radioactive decay processes, radiation interactions, and radiation protection.
– Familiarity with radiochemical separation techniques, MS Office, and statistical analysis.
– Strong communication, report-writing, and organizational skills.
