About the Opportunity

For nearly 40 years, the South African National Society has been empowering postgraduate History students through the SANS Killie Campbell Bursary. This prestigious program is designed to provide financial assistance to students engaged in advanced historical research at recognized South African universities. The bursary prioritizes research that delves into the history of South Africa, with a particular focus on KwaZulu-Natal.

Key Responsibilities

Recipients of the bursary will be expected to present a brief outline of their research at a Society meeting, provide academic progress reports, submit a digital copy of their completed dissertation or thesis, and allow their research to be published on the Society’s website.

Eligible applicants must be pursuing a postgraduate qualification in a History-related field, with a research focus on South African history, preferably KwaZulu-Natal. Candidates must be enrolled at an accredited South African university and provide details of their academic supervisor.
