What You’ll Do
- Manage the switchboard and page staff over the intercom system.
- Handle incoming and outgoing calls with efficiency and professionalism.
- Answer telephonic queries and deliver messages accurately.
- Maintain and troubleshoot telecommunication equipment, reporting faults as necessary.
- Keep the internal telephone directory updated and accurate.
- Provide feedback regarding the operational running of the switchboard component.
- Support the supervisor by adhering to the Code of Conduct for the Public Service.
- Monitor telephone accounts and maintain records of calls made.
What You’ll Need
- A General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) or Grade 9 (Std. 7).
- Experience operating a high-volume switchboard and messaging system.
- Physical ability to hear and speak clearly.
- Availability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent listening skills and telephone etiquette.
