About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Speech Therapist (Grade 1 to 3) to join their team at George Regional Hospital, located in the picturesque city of George. What You’ll Do
- Provide comprehensive speech therapy assessments, diagnoses, and treatments for inpatients and outpatients.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about communication disorders and treatment plans.
- Monitor, review, and document patient progress and outcomes.
- Participate in ward rounds and team meetings to discuss patient care strategies.
- Engage in outreach services to other facilities as required.
- Contribute to the development and management of departmental services, including managing waiting lists and initiating new service protocols.
- Assist in the management of departmental resources to enhance service delivery.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist or Speech Therapist.
- Registration with the HPCSA as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist or Speech Therapist.
- For Grade 1: No experience required after HPCSA registration.
- For Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years relevant experience after HPCSA registration.
- For Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years relevant experience after HPCSA registration.
- A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license and availability for flexible working hours.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, along with knowledge of relevant health legislation and policies.
