What You’ll Do

• Provide strategic leadership and national coordination for state litigation
• Oversee and manage civil litigation across State Attorney Offices
• Establish governance frameworks, norms, and standards for legal representation
• Monitor compliance with court orders and implement corrective measures for non-compliance
• Develop national litigation policies and support constitutional and precedent-setting cases
• Promote ethical conduct and transparency within the department
• Drive the transformation of litigation services and support emerging legal practitioners
• Manage financial risks and contingent liabilities in line with relevant legislation
• Implement knowledge management and digital litigation systems

What You’ll Need

• An NQF Level 8 qualification in Law or equivalent recognized by SAQA
• Admission as an Advocate or Attorney with rights of appearance in the High Court of South Africa
• A minimum of ten years’ experience at a senior managerial level
• Extensive experience in litigation, particularly with high-profile cases
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the State Attorney Act and Public Finance Management Act
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills
• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and commitment to public service values
