About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Social Worker Supervisor Grade 1 to 2 to join the team at Khayelitsha District Hospital. What You’ll Do
- Provide operational and professional leadership in managing social work services within the hospital.
- Supervise and support social workers and students, ensuring compliance with SACSSP and WCDOH guidelines.
- Oversee the delivery of statutory, psychosocial, and mental health services through quality assurance and case reviews.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate record-keeping and reporting in line with governance requirements.
- Manage service statistics, compile reports, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate in-service training and professional development for staff and students.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate qualification in Social Work, allowing registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP).
- At least 7 years of experience as a registered social worker.
- A solid understanding of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Care Act and Children’s Act.
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage teams effectively.
- Excellent communication, report writing, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and data management systems.
