What You’ll Do

  • Draft and vet contracts and other legal documents, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Consult with relevant stakeholders to gather information and provide legal advice.
  • Conduct research on legal matters and prepare comprehensive legal opinions.
  • Manage external legal experts, ensuring timely and sound legal advice.
  • Oversee the handling of Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) requests.
  • Provide guidance and support to subordinates, assisting in their professional development.
  • Compile performance agreements and conduct performance reviews for staff.
  • Contribute to the development of operational plans and reports for the Directorate.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 Certificate and a LLB degree or as determined by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development.
  • A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification legal experience.
  • Proven experience in drafting and vetting contracts and legal documents.
  • Strong research skills and experience in preparing legal opinions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of South African law and related legislation.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
