What You’ll Do

  • Manage patient care for genetic and congenital disorders, providing comprehensive medical care and genetic counselling.
  • Collaborate with genetics laboratories to ensure accurate testing and analysis of genetic conditions.
  • Participate in teaching medical genetics to undergraduates and other healthcare personnel, fostering the next generation of medical professionals.

  • Participate in medical genetic research, contributing to advancements in the field.

What You’ll Need

  • Appropriate qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner (Independent Practice).
  • A Diploma in Paediatrics or an equivalent qualification.
  • Completed formal training in genomics, supported by relevant courses or postgraduate certification.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team of clinicians, counsellors, and scientists.
  • A commitment to learning all aspects of medical genetics and interest in teaching and counselling.
  • Experience in a relevant clinical, scientific, or counselling field is essential.
