What You’ll Do

  • Provide preventative and developmental counselling services at False Bay Hospital and its catchment areas.
  • Conduct supportive psychological interventions for individuals, groups, and communities.
  • Perform basic psychological screenings to enhance overall functioning.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic support to clients.
  • Write detailed reports and provide feedback on interventions to clients and supervisors.
  • Mentor and support lay health workers as part of the district mental health teams.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Registered Councillor.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Registered Councillor.
  • For Grade 1: No experience required post-registration.
  • For Grade 2: A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience post-registration.
  • For Grade 3: A minimum of 16 years of relevant experience post-registration.
  • Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the sub-district.
  • Competency in counselling and psychometric assessments, with knowledge of mental health challenges.
  • Strong analytical skills, presentation skills, and the ability to work in a diverse environment.
