The Niemeyer Memorial Hospital is seeking a dedicated Professional Nurse (Specialty) in Theatre to join its compassionate team in Pietermaritzburg. What You’ll Do
- Render holistic specialized nursing care to patients in the theatre.
- Collaborate with surgeons and anesthetists to ensure patient needs are met during procedures.
- Train and supervise junior nursing staff and student nurses.
- Assist the Operational Manager in managing theatre operations and maintaining a safe environment.
- Develop competencies in scrub, circulating, recovery room, and set room duties.
- Ensure fiscal control of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Plan, provide, and supervise nursing activities in allocated specialty areas.
- Manage the smooth functioning of the instrument room and ensure efficient floor nurse duties.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
- One year of post-basic qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing.
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions and manage time effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant Acts, procedures, and legislation.
