What You’ll Do
- Assist in planning, organizing, and monitoring objectives of the specialized unit.
- Manage patient care effectively, demonstrating concern for their needs and expectations.
- Set and maintain quality standards, policies, and procedures for nursing services.
- Implement National Priorities clinical guidelines and protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with legal requirements.
- Address discipline, grievances, and labour relations issues among staff.
- Foster good working relationships between staff and patients.
- Supervise and develop nursing staff to ensure high-quality care.
- Participate in hospital programs such as Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Quality Assurance.
- Create a safe, therapeutic, and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of 4 years of nursing experience as a Professional Nurse registered with the SANC in General Nursing (Grade 1).
- For Grade 2, a minimum of 14 years of nursing experience, including 10 years post-basic qualification experience in a relevant specialty.
- Senior Certificate or equivalent, along with a Degree or Diploma in General Nursing and a post-basic qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science.
- Registration certificate with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) and a current SANC receipt valid for 2026.
- Strong knowledge of nursing care processes, statutes, and legal frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills in relevant programs.

Requirements
Grade 1: A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing, Grade 2: A minimum of fourteen (14) years appropriate/ recognizable experience in Nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing of which at least 10 (ten) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience after obtaining the 1 (one) year post basic qualification in relevant speciality.Senior Certificate or equivalent, Degree/Diploma in General nursing, One (01) year Post Basic qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science.
Registration certificate with South African Nursing Council (SANC).
Current SANC receipt (2026).
A minimum of four (4) years appropriate/recognisable experience after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
Successful candidate will have to spend minimum of one year in service.
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competence Required: Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal framework such as Nursing Acts, Health Act, Patient Right Charter, Batho Pele Principle, Public Service Regulations, Disciplinary Code and Procedures in the Public Service.
Financial and Budgetary knowledge pertaining to relevant resources under management.
Insight into procedures and policies pertaining to nursing care.
Leadership, Organizational, Decision making, Problem solving, Co – ordination, Liaisons and Interpersonal skills within the limits of the Public Sector and Institutional policy framework.
Interpersonal skills including Public relation, Negotiating, Conflict handling and Counselling skills.
Computer skills in basic programs.
Job Duties
Assist in planning/organizing and monitoring of objectives of the specialized unit in consultation with subordinates.Effective management of patients, display a concern for patients, promoting and advocating.
Proper treatment and care including awareness and willingness to respond to patient’s needs, requirements and expectations.
Provision of quality services through setting of standards, policies and procedures.
Participate in the implementation of National Priorities clinical guidelines, protocols.
Maintain accurate and complete patient records according to legal requirements.
Exercise control over discipline, grievance and labour relations issues.
Promote good working relationships amongst staff and patients.
Assist in supervision and development of all nursing staff.
Ensure effective participation in all hospital programs e.
