What You’ll Do

  • Provide specialized psychiatric nursing care to patients in acute settings.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Engage in documentation and statistical data collection to support research activities.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement plans and nursing policies.
  • Participate in personal and professional development activities to enhance nursing skills.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources, including human, financial, and physical assets.

What You’ll Need

  • Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent, allowing registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • Post-basic qualification in Advanced Psychiatric Nursing Science or a bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Grade 1: Minimum of 4 years of nursing experience post-registration; Grade 2: Minimum of 14 years.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the psychiatric specialty after obtaining the post-basic qualification.
  • Valid Code EB/EC driver’s license and willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills, alongside computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Care Act, Nursing Act, and relevant legislation.
