What You’ll Do
- Conduct hot lab duties and label radiopharmaceuticals for patient use.
- Perform quality control on all imaging equipment to ensure accurate diagnostics.
- Execute gamma camera imaging techniques and PET/CT imaging procedures.
- Collaborate with medical physicists for dosimetry evaluations.
- Implement radiation safety protocols for the protection of patients and staff.
- Schedule and manage patient bookings efficiently.
- Update imaging protocols and provide teaching in nuclear medicine services.
- Deliver general nuclear medicine services to meet patient needs.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Nuclear Medicine Radiographer.
- Registration with the HPCSA as a Radiographer (Independent Practice) in Nuclear Medicine.
- For Grade 1: 4 years of relevant experience post-registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
- For Grade 2: 14 years of relevant experience, including 10 years post-registration in Nuclear Medicine.
- For Grade 3: 24 years of relevant experience, with 20 years post-registration in Nuclear Medicine.
- Solid experience in general gamma imaging, CT imaging, and hot lab procedures.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of hazardous substances regulations and radiation safety practices.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with analytical and report-writing abilities.

Requirements

General gamma imaging skills.
Exposure and experience in CT imaging.
Ability to conduct camera quality control Hot lab experience with ability in labelling of radiopharmaceutical.
Good planning, organisational and presentation skills.
Competencies (knowledge/skills): Sound knowledge of regulations pertaining to the Hazardous Substances Act of 1973 in accordance with the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority.
Well versed with conditions of radiation safety practice.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, conflict management) and interpersonal skills.
A good knowledge of analytical and report writing skills and computer skills.
