What You’ll Do
- Participate in the clinical trauma and burns services, ensuring optimal patient management.
- Coordinate in-house interdisciplinary efforts to enhance patient care.
- Supervise and mentor surgical trainees rotating through trauma and transplant units.
- Uphold the highest standards of clinical, professional, and ethical behavior.
- Assist in teaching undergraduate medical students and postgraduate surgical trainees.
- Conduct, assist, and stimulate research in line with the ethical guidelines of the Health Care Act.
- Promote education in trauma prevention and community awareness programs.
- Be physically present for scene calls and manage unstable cases as required.
What You’ll Need
- An MBChB or equivalent medical degree.
- An appropriate higher surgical qualification (FCS(SA) and/or MMed Surg).
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Trauma Surgeon.
- A registration certificate as a Specialist Trauma Surgeon.
- A commitment to ethical clinical practice and a passion for teaching and mentoring.
