What You’ll Do
- Deliver safe and ethical orthopaedic care to patients, ensuring high standards of practice.
- Develop, implement, and audit clinical protocols and guidelines in orthopaedics.
- Provide after-hours services and manage the performance of junior medical staff.
- Plan and conduct continuous medical education for team members.
- Participate in outreach programs and support a functional referral system for seamless health service delivery.
- Align clinical services with hospital plans and priorities, ensuring compliance with national core standards.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and service delivery.
What You’ll Need
- A qualification that permits registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Orthopaedics.
- Registration as a Medical Specialist in Orthopaedics with the HPCSA.
- For Grade 1: No experience required post-registration.
- For Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience post-registration.
- For Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience post-registration.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to perform overtime and standby duties when necessary.
- Strong communication, leadership, and clinical skills, with the ability to teach and mentor junior staff.
- A solid understanding of current health legislation, medical ethics, and public health policies.
