What You’ll Do

  • Operate on surgical and trauma emergencies as well as manage elective surgeries.
  • Conduct outpatient clinic consultations and develop management plans for patients.
  • Provide critical care for severely ill patients, including resuscitation and ventilatory support.
  • Liaise with various departments to ensure comprehensive inpatient management.
  • Perform endoscopic GIT diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor medical students and interns.
  • Manage both clinical and non-clinical administrative tasks effectively.
  • Contribute to the department’s strategic goals and ensure cost-efficient clinical services.

What You’ll Need

  • A relevant qualification allowing registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
  • For Grade 1: No experience required after registration for SA qualified applicants; for foreign qualified applicants, at least 1 year of relevant experience is needed.
  • For Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Medical Practitioner after HPCSA registration (or 6 years for foreign qualified).
  • For Grade 3: At least 10 years of experience as a Medical Practitioner after HPCSA registration (or 11 years for foreign qualified).
  • Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license and willingness to work shifts and overtime.
  • Proven skills in surgical care, including performing minor surgical procedures and basic diagnostics.
  • ATLS/BLS certification or equivalent is required, with experience in managing critically ill patients preferred.
