About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Officer for a two-year contract at Mowbray Maternity Hospital, situated in the vibrant city of Cape Town. What You’ll Do
- Provide high-quality clinical services to patients and their families.
- Lead clinical initiatives and ensure adherence to management protocols.
- Supervise junior medical staff to uphold high standards of care.
- Participate in the collection of patient statistics and management systems.
- Engage in formal and informal teaching of junior staff and medical students.
- Foster teamwork and effective communication among healthcare professionals.
- Participate in continuous professional development and skills transfer activities.
What You’ll Need
- Appropriate qualification for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA.
- Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
- Experience requirements vary:
- Grade 1: No experience required post-registration for SA-qualified applicants; one year for foreign-qualified applicants.
- Grade 2: Minimum of five years for SA-qualified applicants; six years for foreign-qualified applicants.
- Grade 3: Minimum of ten years for SA-qualified applicants; eleven years for foreign-qualified applicants.
- A valid APLS/PALS/NLS certificate.
- Willingness to work overtime, including after hours and public holidays.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to work off-site.
- Competence in neonatal resuscitation and intensive care.
