What You’ll Do
- Administer Oracle VM and Linux server environments, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Monitor and maintain operating systems and virtual environments on a daily and monthly basis.
- Implement disaster recovery and backup strategies to safeguard critical data.
- Manage system availability, performance tuning, and regular patching.
- Oversee database configurations and integrate systems with Oracle applications.
- Develop complex SQL queries and manage data extraction protocols.
- Support application deployments and facilitate release management across various environments.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and apply necessary remediation measures.
- Lead infrastructure-related projects and system upgrades.
- Draft and implement operational policies, standards, and procedures.
- Provide technical training and support to internal teams, enhancing overall capability.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation for management review.
What You’ll Need
- Grade 12 Certificate and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (NQF Level 6).
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in system administration, particularly with Oracle and Linux environments.
- Proven experience in managing on-prem cloud infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of Linux system administration, Oracle VM infrastructure, and virtualization.
- Excellent understanding of database configuration, SQL, and programming languages such as Bash, Python, and Java.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities, with a knack for technical documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel as required.
