What You’ll Do

  • Provide overall governance for Neurology services, ensuring clinical excellence and compliance with protocols.
  • Manage the strategic and operational aspects of general adult Neurology services at Tygerberg Hospital.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols and guidelines tailored to Neurology.
  • Oversee resource planning, allocation, and utilization within the Neurology department.
  • Facilitate access to Neurology services and manage patient resources effectively.
  • Deliver clinical services in Neurology, including participation in outreach programs.
  • Collaborate with hospital management and clinicians to maintain high-quality Neurology services.
  • Take on academic responsibilities, including teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Engage in research initiatives and innovation in key Neurology areas.
  • Actively participate in provincial Neurology governance structures and provide expert advice on Neurology matters.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate medical qualification allowing registration as a Medical Specialist in Neurology with the HPCSA.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Specialist in Neurology post-registration.
  • Proven ability to function effectively as a specialist and manage departmental staff.
  • Experience in an academic environment, including teaching and training at various levels.
  • Independent research experience with a track record of publications.
  • Strong clinical, communication, and managerial skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Recognition as a leader in the field of Neurology, evidenced by national or international awards.
